International Patients

Live Outside the United States? Many patients travel to Georgia Reproductive Specialists (GRS) from outside of Atlanta, including from other countries, to seek infertility treatment. GRS has an international reputation for providing the most advanced, effective fertility treatments in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Our staff is committed to making your entire experience at GRS a positive one.

The first step as an international patient interested in treatment at Georgia Reproductive Specialists is to fill out the New Patient Evaluation Form. Please do not submit the Intake form if you are not seriously considering traveling to the United States for IVF treatment. The purpose of the form is not for general Q & A. Once that has been received and reviewed, the New Patient Coordinator will contact you via email to arrange a medical records review via eConsult

Once a medical record review is initiated, the New Patient Coordinator will email all necessary forms and payment information. You can also download the forms here:

Medical Records Release
Financial Information
Patient History Form

You will then return the completed forms along with ALL of your medical records, films, videotapes etc. to the physician who will conduct the review. The value of this record review consult and interview will be limited if all available information is not provided.

If you wish to arrange a telephone consult with one of our physicians, please provide several times when you will be available and a phone number where you can receive a collect call.

The fees for a medical record analysis and summary report are as follows:

  • Review and email response only - moderate size record - $154
  • Review and email response only - extensive record - $195
  • Review and telephone consult (Skype) for new patient - $236
  • Review and telephone consult (Skype) for established patient - $195

If you need your films or videos returned, please make sure you enclose a completed FedEx or UPS billing form.

Records must be translated into English before being sent to our office.

Please allow one week from the time you send your records to the time you are contacted by the GRS staff to begin cycle preparations. You will be contacted via email by a GRS nurse to discuss necessary medical testing, treatment timeline, cost and travel preparations.

TIMELINE: The timeline will differ for each patient receiving treatment at Georgia Reproductive Specialists. In general, all required testing must be done one to two months prior to the start of your IVF cycle. Testing may include an ultrasound, male and female bloodwork, semen analysis with Sperm Chromatin Structural Assay (SCSA), medical history, physical exam and cultures. We may be able to accept some testing that you have already had done, but we will have to review the results included in your medical records before making that decision. All of the listed testing can be done during your first visit. Additional testing will be required on Day 3 of your menstrual cycle as well as on Day 10-12. All IVF patients are required to undergo a psychological consult in Atlanta, which can be scheduled at the patient's convenience. Appointments with our financial counselor and nurse will also be scheduled during your Cycle Day 10-12 visit. Click here to view a sample timeline for screening that must take place prior to the start of the IVF cycle. In some cases, it is necessary to treat other conditions discovered during the initial testing before beginning IVF. This treatment can lengthen the time interval from first consult to the start of the IVF medications. The timeline for an IVF cycle differs for each patient because protocols are individualized for each case. For a general idea of the standard IVF cycle timeline, click here.

MEDICATIONS: There are a number of different medications used during the IVF cycle. In some cases, it may be less expensive for you to obtain the correct medications in your country rather than purchasing them in the United States. The GRS team suggests checking into the cost and availability (DO NOT PURCHASE YET) of the following medications in your country before coming to the United States for your first consult:

  • GnRH agonists: Lupron, Synarel or Buserlin
  • GnRH antagonists: Antagon or Cetrotide
  • FSH: Bravelle, Follistim, Gonal-F, Repronex or Menopur (may have a different name in your country)
  • Progesterone in Oil
  • Doxycycline
  • Medrol (Methylprednisolone)
  • Estrogen Patches (0.1 mg)
  • hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)

TRAVEL: The staff at GRS is not responsible for travel arrangements. We will be happy to work closely with you and make recommendations; however, each patient is responsible for making their own flight and hotel reservations. Expedia and Travelocity are two Web sites through which you can make flight, hotel and rental car reservations. Hotels Near Georgia Reproductive Specialists.

LANGUAGE TRANSLATION: If you do not have a strong command of the English language, we strongly request that you arrange for a translator to accompany you to your appointments at GRS and to assist you with your email communication with our staff. Please visit www.systran.net to translate any text, including this Web site, into any one of more than thirty languages.
