Mind/Body Program for Infertility
Some form of infertility affects one out of every six couples trying to conceive. Couples who have an infertility problem often experience anxiety, depression, frustration, anger, guilt and emotional isolation. Infertile women are twice as likely as fertile women to experience depressive symptoms.
The Mind/Body Program for Infertility at Georgia Reproductive Specialists is based on the application of the relaxation response, a physical state of deep rest that changes the physical and emotional responses to stress (e.g., decrease in heart rate, blood pressure and muscle tension). Meeting in a supportive group setting, the program emphasizes teaching the relaxation response, cognitive-behavioral strategies to enhance coping skills, yoga and stretching exercises, and nutrition management.
Come discuss these issues in a warm, supportive and confidential environment with other women who are struggling with infertility. Learn to increase your sense of control and well being, reduce/manage physical symptoms such as insomnia, fatigue, headache or abdominal pain, develop further understanding of treatment cycles and develop skills to ease the treatment process.
The Mind/Body group runs for 10 weeks and is held in the GRS office. The group is led by an experienced licensed psychologist and a counselor, not affiliated with our practice, who specialize in infertility and women's health issues.
This program is open to all women experiencing infertility. You do NOT have
to be a patient at Georgia Reproductive Specialists to participate. For
more information, including cost and dates, please contact Linda Stamm,
Psy.D. at 770-641-9963.
