Getting Started

Deciding to seek help to get pregnant is a difficult, but important first step towards parenthood. From your first phone call throughout treatment, we encourage each patient to learn, ask questions and work closely with our medical team.

As a patient at Georgia Reproductive Specialists, we hope to ease your concerns and help you understand what to expect, during each phase of your treatment.

New patients can expect to schedule a first appointment within two to three weeks. During this time, we will gather your insurance information and verify what insurance coverage you may have, prior to your first appointment. In this way, you are fully informed of your insurance coverage, so there are no surprises once you decide to begin treatment.

During our new patient visit, you will meet with your GRS physician, and begin the diagnostic testing necessary to determine the cause of your infertility and develop an individualized treatment plan. This initial visit will last about one hour.

Once the treatment plan is decided upon, by you and your doctor, you will meet with one of our nurse coordinators to review the treatment, medications and other details about your care.

Typically, from initial visit through the completion of a standard treatment cycle takes approximately three to four months. If surgery or other care is needed, a treatment cycle may take a bit longer.

Throughout this process, GRS keeps your OB/GYN or other referring doctor informed of your treatment. Once pregnant, you return to your OB/GYN at 12 weeks gestation for ongoing care.
